Girls Weekend

We made plans a long time ago for a girls weekend.  We always talk about and never follow through.  Amanda lives in St. Joseph, Michigan.  Close to the lake and many wineries so we figured why not go to her house.  We stayed up late Friday night with a few drinks, Yahtzee and card games.  Saturday we headed out to the beach for some relaxation and sun.  I gotta say it was a little odd not having to constantly watch where your kids were.  It was safe to close your eyes.  Once we soaked up some rays we were off to a few wineries.  I must say the Round Barn Winery was my favorite.  We did a little wine tasting and then sat outside listening to the band, talking, and sipping wine with a few appetizers.  After all that it was back to downtown St. Joseph for a fancy dinner.  Fun times girls, fun times even if it was already 10 o'clock.  Love ya and we need to make this a priority every year.

Look Alike

I can't help but see how much Brooke and Jenna look alike.

Jenna's Room

I never did post any picture of Jenna's room.  We kept it pretty much thesame as Lindsey's.  I changed out the name and the pictures.

Nature Scavenger Hunt

As everyone knows this summer has been a hot one. When I found out I was going to have a June baby I was excited and imagined a summer off work with the girls. We could get out of the house and go to the zoo, play in the pool or just plain play outside. Not so much. It is almost like winter staying inside because it is just too darn hot.
I took Brooke on a nature scavenger hunt at the park one morning.  I printed her a list of things to find complete with pictures since she wouldn't be able to read everything on the list.
Brooke was thrilled when I told her what were doing.  She packed a backpack with all her scavenger hunt necessities.  They included a pen, hat , magnifying glass, binoculars and a light up toy so she could see under trees.
She found a leaf on her list.

Jenna was along for the hunt

Now you can only imagine a girl that screams at every bug on a scavenger hunt in the park.  Quite interesting with lots of ahh bug screams.  She didn't get everything on her list and keeps asking to go back out and finish.

Sleep or transition?

I have never been a fan of having my babies sleep in a bassinet or pack n play in my room. That is until Jenna. Granted, with the move her room is farther away than the bedrooms were with Brooke and Lindsey. Tim was also working a different shift at the time. After a few weeks of getting up multiple times through the night to simply put a pacifier back her mouth I just wanted to sleep. I put her next to my bed and my goodness it was great. She is within reach and we both slept better that night. Problem is I still haven't gone back to the crib since that night. I always liked avoiding the transition to crib thing. Oh well, rules are made to be broken.  So for now sleep wins.  Jenna is the last thing I see when I go to bed and the first thing I see when I wake up.  Not a bad deal.

A few summer activities

All this heat makes you want to stay indoors with the a/c. The girls are always looking for something to do. Kinda feels like winter cabin fever some days.
Brooke was so excited when I let her get her own library card.  We are at the library frequently but letting her get her own card had her really excited.

Playing dress up with a cousin is always fun.

Pinterest is full of ideas.  One of Brooke's favorites was searching for the frogs that were in ice.  She was looking for "fossils".

Told you she loved it.

Swimming is always a good way to stay cool.

Lindsey has fun when she is outside playing in their little house.

Jumping on the trampoline.  Too bad we had it for all of 2 weeks before a bad storm came through and sent it flying to the neighbors front yard.  Hopefully Tim can get it fixed because the girls loved it.

Caitlyn and Justin's Wedding

We all were dressed up and made it out for Tim's cousin's wedding.
These photobooths have been at many weddings lately.  Pretty nice considering my camera has been left behind many times or doesn't even make it out of the bag.  What can I say 3 kids and my hands are full. The wedding and reception was beautiful.  Congrats to Caitlyn and Justin.

Jenna 1 Month

Jenna is 1 Month Young Today!
Time sure does fly.
Jenna loves to be held and talked to among the usual newborn eat, poop, and sleep.
Jenna isn't happy when she is not being held.  She can get pretty gassy thank goodness for Mylicon.
She eats about every 2-3 hours day or night.
She has started to outgrow her newborn outfits.
Jenna's first doctor visit was today.  Everything is going well.

July 4th

Having three kids I forget to grab my camera. Shocking since I seem to have my camera at all times. Twice I have had the camera but no card. Sometimes I do have the camera but just not the extra hands to use it.
The local fireworks were July 3rd. We spent the evening with family. We were able to walk to find a spot to watch the fireworks pretty much in their backyard.
July 4th was laid back and we stayed home enjoying the day together. I did end up pulling the camera out late that night.
It was hot and lets face it we weren't going to be able to sit around a fire anyway. Smores are just as good in the microwave and you don't wake up in the morning still smelling like campfire.

Brooke likes the little snap things that you throw on the ground.  Tim bought a small pack of "kid stuff" for her.  She pulled the strings on this thing that created a bang and she absolutely flipped out.  I don't think she will be asking for those next year.

I was inside for this one with Lindsey and Jenna.  Apparently Brooke was dancing in the stinky smoke bomb.

Always a must on July 4th, sparklers!

Oh the heat

This week has given us a break from the heat but oh my the heat was unbearable.  The only way to tolerate being outside was if you were in the water.  Lindsey tolerates wearing the swimmies much more than we anticipated.  She still is content to sit on the side of the pool and keep her feet in the water.  She is making great progress in the pool.

Brooke has become quite a good swimmer.  She has learned a lot in her swim classes.  The girl is a fish and would stay in the water 24/7.  She told her dad he needed to put a pool in our backyard.  She jumps off the diving board with her swimmies on.  She can swim from side to side with no swimmies but still in the shallow end.

Jenna and I usually hang out in the shade alternating with the air conditioning.  I thought having a June baby would be great.  I wouldn't feel like I was trapped inside like I was in the winter with Brooke and Lindsey.  The 100+ heat kept Jenna and I inside with the air conditioning.  I kept telling myself that we all made it through the summer as babies with no air conditioning.  Who am I kidding though, the heat was miserable.

Jenna's Newborn Pictures

A big thanks goes out to Selena at LL's Creations for Jenna's newborn pictures.  You might remember her from doing our family pictures.  Jenna didn't make it easy.  In the amount of time we were there she slept very little, puked, pooped, ate, and made a mess of her photo props.  She still managed to pull out some good pictures.
