Just like Mommy

Tim took one look at Brooke sleeping and said, "she sleeps just like you". Minus the pacifier and stuffed animals. I knew the girl had my sleeping habits but not the same position. If only she would leave the blankets on top of her and not her sleeping on top of them.

Dancing Queen

Many of you have heard me talk about Brooke dancing but few have witnessed it. We went to a wedding and this is what she did ALL night. Everyone loved it!

She knew right where the DJ was and that he was the source for all the pretty lights.

Hypnotized.

She loved dancing with her Daddy.

Another cute shot in the middle of dancing.

She was pooped by the end of the night.

Congrats Rob & Rachel!

Tantrums

Oh yes, Tantrums are on the rise. Hard to believe with all the cute pictures lately? She has got it down. Start with the screaming, head tilted back and mouth wide open ear piercing screaming, throw down whatever you have in your hands, stomp your feet back in forth in rhythm with the screaming, and if all else fails throw yourself down on the ground.

Dancing in her Dad's Boots

After the big snowstorm on Saturday Brooke headed outside to help Tim shovel the driveway. Don't worry, these are the boots Tim wore outside. We a re in trouble because the girl has a fascination with shoes. She wants to put them all on, big or small. These boots went clear up to her diaper.

Chocolate bunny never had a chance...

Easter Tidbits

One of the drawbacks of this weekend incentive job is always working Easter. I was asleep after working so all these pictures are thanks to Tim. Sorry I don't have any cute stories to share. Tim said she had a great time at dinner and was an angel. Apparently she has an expensive appetite and chowed down on prime rib and chocolate mousse.

Brooke's 1st Easter Egg Hunt

We took Brooke on her first Easter Egg Hunt today at the gym. The kids club organizes one every year for the kiddos. They took all the kids that were under 3 down for a few minutes and after that released the older kids. Those older kids meant business. Once they were realeased, wow, did the eggs fly. Brooke was having a great time picking up the the eggs and looking at the pretty colors. Once the big kids were down there you had to watch that you didn't get separated. She had a great time and filled up her bucket with easter eggs stuffed with candy, toys, playdoe, and all sorts of goodies.

Once she filled up her basket it was time to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap. We weren't sure what she was going to do. Instead of crying when we set her on her lap she cried when it was time to
get off.

Easter Bunny or Aunt Christa?

Dear Easter Bunny,

Thanks for leaving all the wonderful presents at Aunt Christa's house. I love every one of them and can't wait till it is warm enough outside to really start playing with them. A bubble mower just isn't the same indoors. Mom and Dad won't even let me use the bubbles in the house. The slide is great, I giggle everytime I go down it. The yummy's in the Easter basket are great to munch on, the puppy and the corn popper make the funniest noises. I had so much fun today with my Aunt Christa.
Thanks for visiting with me.
Love,
Brooke

When will your check arrive?

I found this post and had to share.

The IRS has a timeline when the Economic Stimulus Package checks will be delivered. If you have your tax refund directly deposited into you bank account you'll get it sooner. We'll have our in our account by May 2nd!! It's always nice when the gov't GIVES YOU money!
When you'll get it?

How much you'll get (you need your 2007 tax filing)

Dear Zyrtec....

and all pharmaceutical companies for that matter, please come up with a concentrated version of your products. Trying to get 5ml down a toddler is not pretty and a very STICKY situation. No matter what I do Brooke and I smell like grapes all day. They gave Tim a medicine cup with it. Yeah, OK, right.

Please don't put it away...

We have piled up baby things in Brooke's room to be put in the attic. Hopefully we can get that done tonight. Anyway, Brooke has found new ways to use all her baby gear that she has outgrown. As you can see she likes to use her car seat as a chair to read her books.

Shheee'ss back!

A little Zyrtec and Motrin and our little Brooke is back! I did take her to the Dr. again yesterday and she informed me that she was probably experiencing swelling around the joints. Yet another side effect of the MMR and the allergic reaction. She suggested maybe a little Prednisone but I think the look on my face was answer enough. We were sent home with a prescription for Zyrtec and to continue giving Motrin around the clock. I stopped at Walgreen's to get the prescription filled and they said to come back in a half hour and it would be ready. Tim went out to pick up and they informed him that they didn't have any in stock and it would be ready in the AM. Ya think they could have called? Anyway, I gave her Motrin and Benadryl last night before bed and she didn't make a peep all night. This morning she ate like a horse. Well, not really like a horse since she never does that but she ate like she did 2 weeks ago. Lunch was the same story, yummy ravioli and applesauce. The Dr. even called to check and see how she was doing. Hardly any hives and no swelling. Great!!! Yahoo, Brooke is Brooke again!

Another Daddy Weekend

Brooke and Daddy had yet another fun Daddy weekend. Sunday, they went to the gym and she played in the Kid's Club while Tim ran. They took all the kids over to the basketball court and threw out tons of balls for them to play with and apparently she was just laughing and throwing balls all around. Tim called her the future dodge ball champion. After the fun with all the balls it was time to put on bathing suits and go swimming. The girl loves the pool! Brooke was wiped out from all the fun and took a nice long nap. The fun continued at home.

All this fun and she still is having problems with the darn MMR shot. She hasn't been eating all that great, and the hives continue. I took her home from Grandma's today with her screaming. She goes from fun loving dancing Brooke to I don't feel good Brooke in 2.2 seconds. She was out cold before I even got out of the neighborhood. Once home she woke up and fussed so I changed her pants and noticed that her knee seemed to look swollen and red. When I pushed on the left knee she really let out a cry. It very well could have been her saying, "Mom I am tired, just put me down for my nap". I gave her some Motrin in case that is what was causing her discomfort and now she sleeps.....I will have to update you once she wakes up from her nap on the status of her knees. I just hope it was my imagination and she gets over all this soon!

Date Night

Tim's parents bought us tickets for Christmas to see The Lion King. The babysitter was included, now those are some good tickets. Doug and Amanda also received tickets the same night as us so we went out to eat and off to see the show. It was great, just like I remember when I watched it the first time. The singing, costumes, and props were amazing. Definitely a show to see.

Not just Tupperware...

There are parties for so many things now. Mary Kay, Tupperware, Partylite, Purse, and Tastefully simple just to name a few. Yesterday I went to my first bow party. That's right a bow party. If Brooke had hair I would have really gone nuts. The bows were so darn cute and they actually stay in her hair, well if she doesn't rip it right out. I found the key was to sneak it in. Isn't it just darling. Grow hair, grow! She is looking at me like, are you serious mom, seriously put the camera away! I think that will be the look I am going to get a lot.

Allergy to MMR

Brooke has been getting hives since Sunday. They come on randomly and disappear randomly. There have been no changes to diet, detergent, or lotions that would trigger an allergic reaction. She had her MMR and Hib vaccines on Thursday. She doesn't seem to have any other symptoms. The hives are everywhere but her chest and back. I decided to call the Dr. to see what the deal was and she had me bring her right in. Brooke left with a big fat allergy sticker on her chart that read: MMR Vaccine. The second vaccine wouldn't be due until 4-6 years of age but she is NEVER to receive it again since there is no guarantee that she wouldn't react again or that the reaction wouldn't be worse. The hives may last 2-3 weeks and we can give her Benadryl or Zyrtec if she is bothered by them. Leave it to my daughter to be the 1 out of a million.

Teaching her early

Must be the only one....

Recently when I get Brooke out of the car I occasionally will set her down and allow her to walk in the house by herself. Today she decided that she wanted to play in the snow for a few minutes before we went in the house. She is the only one that still loves the snow!

Ear muffs

Background....My parents have been in Florida since January and my mom was beginning to feel a little home sick. We had planned this vacation for a while and everyone seemed to know except her. I still can't believe no one leaked the info. My dad had planned to tell my mom he was going to go out fishing with her brother and drive to the airport to pick us up. The weather wasn't exactly "fishing" weather so he had to think of another excuse. My mom woke up extremely homesick that morning and my dad made up an excuse and left. She was NOT happy. Little did she know that he was on his way to pick us up. The initial reaction wasn't caught that great on camera but you get the gist. What was the initial reaction? Well, lets just say the f bomb was dropped. I have never in my life heard my mom utter such a word. I guess we got her good!

P.S. Don't expect all my videos to look like this. Tim created this from the video camera. I only know how to get video off the digital camera. Maybe someday he will teach me.

If only it were warm enough...

Brooke playing in the kiddie pool at Disney. She loves the pool and they had one that was just her size so she really had a ball. I love her 2 handed wave.

WHAT IS A GIRL?

She's a bundle of sweetness
and brightness and fun
The beauty of springtime,
the warmth of the sun.

She's innocence covered with
mud, sand and soot
She's Motherhood dragging
a doll by the foot.

She's a composite picture
of giggles and tears
Of tantrums, excitement,
amusement and fears.

A bundle of mischief
and often a tease
A creature of moods
not too easy to please.

She can capture your heart
with her pixie-like grin
Or chatter and beg till
your patience wears thin.

But obedient, naughty,
mischievous or coy
She's Mom's little darling
and Dad's pride and joy.

Did you Spring Ahead?

Hope everyone has their clocks right. This may be the first time that I was excited about the time change. While you all lost an hour of sleep, I lost an hour of work. Now that makes the night go fast! I can't wait for spring and the longer days of sunshine.

Playground World

We met so the children could play in a warm, very large, indoor showroom full of swing sets & other toy products. It was just like summer only we had to put our coats and hats on when it was time to leave. Brooke has no fear. She climbed up on the swingsets like nothing.

Easter Basket Must Have

Beware they are addicting! They are larger pastel egg shaped Reese's pieces and are they yummy. They’re just like big versions of the original candy—crunchy, peanut buttery, addictive. When I spotted the big orange bag at Target my only thought was whether I should put one or two bags in my cart. I bought 2 bags, we hid one bag for Easter and opened the other. I have to keep them out of sight or I could find myself at the bottom of the bag.

Aftermath

What do you get when you combine 2 vaccines, teething, and playground world?
1 very sleepy Brooke.

Amanda's Baby Shower Gift

Just kidding. I had to share this picture that Amanda left as a comment for everyone to see. This chair is so darn cute. How could you use it as a time out chair? Refer to my previous post about suggesting time outs for Brooke.

Oh no, 2 Nurses....

Brooke had her 15 month well visit today. She weighed a whopping 20lbs 11 oz and is 30 1/4 inches long. That puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. "Don't worry about the weight gain, toddlers will not starve, or overfeed themselves; they will eat what they need for normal growth", she added. She asked how Brooke is doing and how we are dealing with her tantrums, if any. Apparently she is not too young for time out. I was surprised to hear that I could be putting her in a time out. She is 15 months old! Where am I supposed to put a 15 month old for a time out? In the corner for one minute for each year in age which would be 1 minute in a corner for Brooke. I don't see that working at this point but who knows. As always she said Brooke looks great, and is quite a smart one, and then sent 2 nurses in with shots. I always hate when I see 2 because that means there are going to be 2 band aids and double the tears. This time around it was the MMR and the Hib vaccines. Brooke is healthy, growing, right on track, and sporting 2 Elmo bandaids!

Happy Birthday...

Geez, gone for a week and miss 3 birthday posts....
Tyler-February 27
Grandma T-February 28
Daddy-March 4

Love,
Brooke

Hope you all enjoyed your birthday celebrations.

Pooped Out

Most people feel energized after a relaxing vacation. Not Brooke, she had some zzzz's to catch up on. Probably didn't help that she was out late last night celebrating daddy's birthday. I opened her door at one point hoping that she would hear the guys shoveling the neighbor's driveway. No luck, she was snoozing good. What time do you want to guess she woke up?
11:40 people, thats right 11:40! I wasn't sure what to feed her. Does she eat breakfast food or lunch food at noon? Ahhh, she doesn't care so I opted to combine it a little. Yogurt, veggie cheeseburger, milk, and crunchies.

Where Did the Palm Trees Go?

We all made it back from Florida in one piece! Brooke experienced her first flight. I envisioned the worst that could happen on a plane with a toddler: kicking, screaming, wiggly, sitting next to what I like to call a "Mr. Scowl", or vomiting. You name what bad things could happen and I thought it was going to be me. Nothing like walking down the aisle to find your seat and everyone looking at us hoping that the vacant seats next to them aren't for us. I was pleasantly surprised how many people were traveling with toddlers or infants. I had her diaper bag packed with things to keep her busy for a week and fed for 2 weeks! Brooke slept part of the ride both there and back. Once she woke up it was time to break out everything I had prepared to keep her occupied.

When we first arrived in Fort Meyers there were palm trees and sunshine. It was only in the 60-70's the first 2 days but it beat the snow and cold back in Toledo. We pulled off the BIG surprise for Grandma. She was sitting on the couch stewing, mad at my Dad for being gone all morning when we walked in. I think we may have actually heard some words come out of my mom's mouth that I have never heard before. For those of you that don't know, my mom had no idea we were flying down to visit and she was really starting to get homesick so the timing couldn't have been better. Once Tim figures out how to get video off the video camera on here I will post it.

It was Grandma's Birthday so we went to the beach to walk around a little. Brooke was NOT A FAN of the SAND. Who would have guessed, I thought all kids loved the beach. Not mine! Guess I am going to have to work on that.

On Friday we were off to Disney! Everyone stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort in Disney. We had a great time at the pool and at Disney. Brooke was able to visit with Jamie and her Great Aunt Janet. She is getting a little too busy to sit in her stroller or wait in line for a ride but we managed to sneak a few in.

Now the weather was really starting to warm up once we were back at Grandma & Grandpa's. It was time to hit the beach and the pool. My parents are in a community that only allows residents over 55. Now you can imagine what I was thinking watching some of these people get in and out of the pool, "please don't fall, don't break a hip, don't have a heart attack, DON'T DIE". There is a positive to all this, you don't have to feel self conscious about walking around in your bathing suit.

All you could see as we flew to Detriot was snow and grey skies. So sad to leave the sunshine behind! It was great trip and we enjoyed the sun while it lasted. It was great to see you Mom & Dad, enjoy the rest of your trip. You are officially snowbirds!
There are of course a ton more pictures to share, 163 to be exact, not including what my mom took. I am going to make an album and post it later on. I just wanted to share a few favorites.
