The holidays are busy for everyone. So just like everyone else I am behind on blog posts. I am going to try and cram a whole lot of stuff in the next few days.
Brooke turned 4 last month which means a well visit was scheduled. She is doing fabulous and we have no concerns about her growth and development. She still calls Lindsey "Windsey" and Ok sounds more like "otay". Her sense of humor is really starting to show. She tells knock knock jokes and laughs at jokes on her favorite TV shows. Her teachers always have nice things to say about Brooke. She is independant and likes to do everything by herself. When I doubt it or try and help her she reminds me how big she really is.

The well visit stats are just as we knew. She is little but she has really grown. Just since she started preschool I think she hit a pretty good growth spurt. When she started her weight hovered around 28lbs and at her appointment she was 39 inches and 32lbs. I wasn't sure if her pants just had shrunk up in the dryer but those stats proved that my little preschooler is growing fast. She threw a fit after the shots. I don't think she really had a clue what was going to happen. Lucky for her only 2 shots. We found out at the first dose that she is allergic to the MMR vaccine so she won't be able to have any bosters.
Lindsey has a terrible new habit. Grinding her teeth. It is bad, I mean nails on a chalkboard bad. So bad that Tim and I have been able to tone it out until someone points it out to us. Yep, she grinds her teeth and we don't know how to make it stop. Lindsey's EI caseworker has ordered a few vibrating toys to see what happens and all of her therapists are giving us little tips. Most of what we hear is that she just had so many teeth come in all at once that it may be comforting. It is a new stimulation to muscles that are weak in her face. Who knows, I just hope people still aren't cringing and asking about her grinding when she is 4. Lindsey made her first trip to the dentist to check it out and just because we thought she needed to get used to the idea of the dentist.
Her pediatric dentist was amazing. She had her teeth brushed and he verified that she wasn't causing any damage. He believed she was grinding for the same reasons everyone else thought.
I have been wanting to get Brooke's hair cut short since she started preschool. Her hair is thin and all over the place. Ponytails and pigtails just don't stay in and end up a mess in her face. Brooke wanted nothing to do with a haircut. She wanted it to grow as long as Rapunzel's. Last week she decided that she wanted to look like Mommy and agreed to a haircut. You better believe that day Tim took her out before she could decide that Rapunzel had a better haircut. I am loving the new hairdo! She rocks the bob with it stacked in the back.
Lindsey has needed her first haircut. My kid's hair doesn't seem to grow until they are 2 and then it comes in like a mullet with a bed head rat nest in the back that lasts all day. Pretty, I know! Lindsey throws her head back and forth when I try and comb her hair so I knew this was no easy task.

Back at my Mom's house though we were victorious over the bed head mullet. She is darn cute!
Unfortunately before I could really get a good picture of Brooke and Lindsey rockin' their new looks Brooke added a new look. 4 stitches and a black eye. Rockin' with Rocky is more like it now. The poor thing was playing and riding on Tim's shoulders when she hit the corner of his work bench light in the basement. Ice and pressure and it stopped bleeding fairly quick so after making a few phone calls I thought we were in the clear. Only a few hours later it opened back up and the bleeding started all over again. That was that and off to the EC we went. I can't begin to express how brave she was. The staff was amazing. They papoosed her which she thought was pretty funny to be wrapped up like a burrito. There she lay with sterile towels covering her face. Only a little hole to see her eye. We talked the whole time about Toy Story, preschool, Lindsey, and Team Umizoomi. While the doctor numbed the area up he told her to be brave but it was ok to cry. They went back forth saying "ow, ow, ow, ow". What a great trick! She stayed focused on him and just saying ow instead of freaking out and crying. Once all was done she left with a blue popsicle, 2 stickers, 4 stitches, and a brave face!
