Halloween 2010

We are all sleepy from a day of Halloween fun. Here is a peek at my farmer and her cow.

Pumpkins, Parties and More

Tim gets really into the pumpkin carving. He did all sorts of faces and Brooke's favorite Swiper. She doesn't even watch or seem to really like Dora. There was a commercial for printing the template for a Swiper pumpkin and from there on that is what she wanted. She said we needed a Swiper pumpkin to keep the squirrels away from our pumpkins that way they wouldn't eat them.
Lindsey hung out in her highchair just observing Brooke and Tim pull all the "guts" out of the pumpkins. This is probably the first year Brooke started to think the gooey seedy mess might actually be kinda fun.

Kindergarten Parade

After the parade at Wildwood Brooke went to her Aunt's Kindergarten class Halloween party and parade with her Grandma. Sounds like she had a great time with all the big kids and they enjoyed showing her around.
She thinks she is such a big kid sitting down and raising her hand to be called on.
Yep, teacher's pet for sure!

Wildwood Halloween Parade

The Halloween parties just keep coming. Brooke and Lindsey always have a great time and get tons of good candy at the gym's Halloween parade. The kids get all dressed up and parade through the gym and the doctor's offices in the building.
Brooke kept covering her eyes so I couldn't take her picture. Finally, I just told her I was done taking pictures only to snap one as soon as she took her hands off her eyes.

Boo at the Zoo

Last week was the annual Boo at the Zoo. My parents and my sister joined us this year since they were already going to be in town for Lindsey's birthday. I am not sure if it was because I went on Friday this or what but the zoo was packed with all sorts of tiny ghosts and goblins. The kids had a great time walking around the zoo in their costumes while collecting candy and playing games.

Fall Walks

The amount of daylight is getting short and the nights are getting colder.
I love fall but the thought of winter makes us a little crazy.
We are enjoying the nice weather as much as we can. The trees leaves are all turning their shades of fall making a walk full of beauty. Brooke wore herself out this particular evening. She ran along almost the entire time and took only short "rests" in the stroller a few times.
She grabbed this huge weed, uh flower for me and insisted I take it home.
Ah, yes fall walks are pretty fun with my silly girls.

Teaching her Little Sister

We have been signing with Lindsey for a long time and she never seems to give it much thought. I know she can do it, I have seen her. This week she has really finally been using the sign for "more" instead of yelling at us in her highchair. Everything she does is pretty much in relation to food. Her clinicians at PMD were able to get her all the way through the obstacle course the had set up bribing her with puffs. The first time she stood was to try and get to my cereal bowl. I guess I will just have to continue the repetition and bribery and hopefully I will begin to see her showing me all these signs we have been teaching her.
Brooke is even in on the scheme.
She climbed up on the kitchen chair trying to get Lindsey to sign, "more eat".
Just like us she even shows Lindsey hand over hand "more eat".
Brooke gets just as excited when Lindsey does something new. Such a nice big sister already teaching her little sister.

Finger Painting?

Lindsey's ST had suggested trying to get Lindsey to play with things like shaving cream, finger paint, playdoe and floam in her highchair. My first thought was, she would eat it. She also suggested trying vanilla pudding with food coloring for finger painting. Brooke was out shopping with Daddy so I thought it was the perfect opportunity. I had Lindsey in her highchair in just a bib ready to go. I was looking for the food coloring while realizing how much I needed to organize my baking cupboard since I couldn't find a thing. So anyway, Lindsey is yelling and getting antsy sitting in her highchair. I quickly grabbed my icing paste and mixed a TINY bit in her pudding. Oh, my when they say concentrated paste they mean it.
We made a mess.
But it was fun and tasted good.

I had to put in right in the tub. I was actually already trying to think of what I was going to say the next day if I had stained her skin blue. A smurf for Halloween? Luckily a little soap and water was all it took. Now what the diaper may look like in the morning, I am pretty sure I know.

Trabbic Farms

Yep, it is fall and it was a warm day at the pumpkin farm. Instead of pulling out sweaters and jeans I rummaged through a few of the summer outfits that I hadn't boxed up for the attic.

There are so many fall festivals and activities going on we had a few to choose from.

Little Miss Pumpkin Princess herself was in full attire.

How tall is Brooke this fall?

So warm that instead of hot apple cider we enjoyed apple slushies. Yummy!

Brooke wore herself out climbing over giganic pumpkins throughout the farm and playing the bails of hay that were made to be like a maze for kids.

Ah, I love fall. The idea that winter is next, not so much.

Gust Bros Just Brooke & I

Pumpkin patch time always equals Gust Brothers Farm. We have been taking Brooke there every year to pick out some pumpkins, go on a hayride, and look at all the animals. This year I went with just Brooke. She likes to call these her "Girls Day Out". Lindsey was at PMD and I thought it was perfect timing and would be a nice trip for us. It is always nice to have some 1:1 time with her. My camera died within the first few pictures so I had to resort to my camera phone which I must say did better than I had anticipated.
Brooke loving all the baby animals.

This bog ol' "Mommy" pig always has tiny babies around her when we go. We were told they are about 3 weeks old.
She loves the wheel barrels
and is getting strong enough to lift some of the pumpkins.

don't dare try to help her out. Brooke told me, "I can just roll it if it gets too heavy".

and because I can never resist a flashback. Here is year #2 trying to lift pumpkins in the wheel barrel.

This year#4 just Brooke

Year #3-was Brooke & Lindsey so we will wait on that comparison when I have them both.

We do plan to go again with the nice weather. Lindsey and Tim can enjoy the fun and pick out their own pumpkins.

Family Pics

We took advantage of the fall weather and thought we would get some family pictures done. Selena at LL's Creations captured some great pictures. I wasn't sure when we left that she was going to be able to find anything. Brooke was a wild woman and Lindsey just plain wasn't having anything to do with the pictures. She assured us that she had been able to get some good shots.
Here are a few of my favorites.
Brooke loved the trains.

My darling little thumb sucker.

I guess Brooke loves her sister a little too much with the tight squeeze she gave her.
Such a diva!

Ah, those eyes!
