20 Weeks

Today marks the halfway point of my pregnancy. Apparently the baby is the size of a banana. I feel otherwise about that but I'm sure the Handles ice cream I ate after my appointment might have something more to do with that. I am not a big fan of taking pregnancy shots of myself. I don't get the cute little baby bump. My butt seems to grow at the same rate as my belly. The pictures just dont look so cute. So this is for you Mom.

She made sure to let Tim know that she certainly is a girl

Profile
She kept kicking her legs up near her forehead. Brooke thought that was pretty funny. Brooke was so excited that her and Lindsey could go to this ultrasound with us. I explained it was going to be black and white. She lasted all of maybe 2 shots before she asked Tim if we were done yet.

The ultrasound tech gave Brooke her very own copy of her sister's picture. She carried it around with her until she could hang it up in her room. The name she has picked out for her this week is Riley. That is the other name we had for Brooke.

There originally was 2 due dates. I had June 19 at first and they had said June 22 at my 8 week ultrasound. I asked at my last appointment what date they were using. I was told go with June 19. She is measuring 3 days ahead from the June 19th due date.

Potty Time

When I was unpacking I came across Brooke's little potty. I figured I would just put it in their bathroom closet. If I packed it back up I would never find it again and it would drive me nuts. Back in November we randomly put her on the potty before bath time and viola, she went. Random I was certain. Well from there on we had quite a few #1 and #2 in the potty. She wasn't telling us that she needed to go but we had moved from just at baths to before and after naps. I had been contemplating setting up a potty schedule. Same time everyday and see what happened. Lindsey would sit and immediately go. I knew it was too good to be true and just kept it up while she was interested. So where are we now in January? Nothing. Nada. She has lost interest and I can't tell you the last time I dumped the potty. We still set her on it and read books but that is all it has been lately. Just like walking it will come. I wasn't going hard core potty training anyway.

Girls Bathroom Before/After

Our house is full of big ideas and things we want to do. Most of them will have to wait. We have been sticking with minor cosmetic (paint) fixes. A little paint goes a long way. When there is so much wallpaper to take down paint makes it even better. Taking down wallpaper definitely is on my list of least favorite things to do. It is old, gross, outdated, and a major PITA to take down.

Before

And After

I love Pinterest inspiration copies because sometimes I'm just not that creative.

The girls newest favorite bath toy. I haven't had many bath toys that last more than a few months. They usually end up gross and moldy. I found out real quick that anything that squirts water would soon grow nastiness that would also squirt. Gross! They received the Vtech octopus for Christmas. Lindsey throws all the their toys that have lasted and the wash clothes out of the tub. This thing not only stays on the wall which is one of my favorite things but it also plays music and blows bubbles which is something the girls both love.

The bathroom color is Behr's Embellished Blue

Miss Brooke

Brooke loves to play all things imaginative. This particular day I watched her gather up a bunch of her stuffed animals and my picture books. She dragged them all in the back room aka the "classroom" and set them up neatly for "circle time". She went through the picture books explaining each picture to her class.

Lindsey reading a bedtime story

Lindsey has been grabbing some of her favorite bedtime books and reading them in her own language. It is so cute to see especially because I can remember Brooke doing the same thing. As usual, I can't take a video of Lindsey without Brooke trying to steal the spotlight.

Kids Artwork

I have been good about hanging up some of my favorite artwork that Brooke brings home but haven't been so good about taking pictures. It makes it easier to remember how her artwork changes without all the paper.

Gender Reveal

Brooke and Lindsey will have another sister in June!

We surprised the girls by bringing a pink balloon home. Brooke knew right away it was a girl because she said pink means girl. Brooke is beyond excited to have another sister. That is all she kept talking about was that she hoped they would say it was a girl. She has decided that her name should be Barbie Short. Not sure how the short came about as the middle name. As usual I don't plan to spill the beans on the name. The ultrasound looked great. Baby is looking healthy and right on track. 16 weeks 2 days.

Christmas Tim's Parents

We finished up the Christmas celebrations with Tim's family. Lindsey is IN LOVE with her Grandpa. She gets all excited when you tell her we are going to see Grandpa. She is the opposite of Brooke. Lindsey loves the guys where Brooke used to cry when they so much as talked to her. She prefers to say she is going to see Grandma. Lindsey was so excited for Elmo and Brooke was thrilled with her Polly Pockets, clothes, and Strawberry Shortcake toys.

One funny gift was a memory foam pillow. Brooke constantly takes Tim's pillow. She doesn't want any other pillow but his memory foam pillow. Tim is a pushover and usually will let her have it for the night. Now she has one of her own and Tim will be able to take his back.

All in all we had a great Christmas spending time with family and ate way too much yummy food. The girls were good this year because my house is filled with all sort of fun new toys and adorable outfits.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve we always head over to Tim's Grandma's house. Brooke and Lindsey have fun there since there are lots of kids to play with. The kids were all excited about their new roller skates and had to try them out.

It is a late night Chrismas Eve. Once we are back home the girls set out cookies and feed the reindeer. Brooke wasn't so sure if Santa would realize we had a chimney this year. She has always left out the magic key for Santa to use to get in our house. She really wanted to leave it out just in case he needed it. Thank goodness Santa left his dirty footprints near the fireplace. She knew Christmas morning Santa had used the chimney.

Christmas Morning

Chrismas moring was here! Brooke ran in our room at 8am. She kept asking me to go downstairs with her and see if anything was different. The girls must have been good this year.
