Princess Lindsey

Our friend Aubrey, of Blessings from Aubrey, bestowed on Lindsey the
Princess Award!

Now she just has to answer 5 questions so all the other Princesses can get to know her better.

1. Name an author you love
Sandra Boynton I love to kiss all the animals on those bright board book pages.

2. Name an author who highlights your personality
Author? You mean my Mommy and Daddy are just reading me a story? No one compares to my laidback, carefree, fun loving personality anyway. I am Princess Lindsey after all.

3. Name some books you love.
So Big!

4. Something that always excites you

Playing Pat a Cake with anyone willing to play along. I search for hands even if they are trying to hide them behind my back. I love to hear someone sing and play with me.

5. Something you hate

Getting my face and eyes cleaned. It seem as though Mommy and Daddy are always wiping away food off my face (like I am a messy eater or something) or trying desperately to get the crusty goop from my eyes. I hate it and put up a fight everytime. After they wipe my face off they go any slather me up with oinment to keep my cheeks and chin from getting chapped. Geez, people! But hey, you can actually see my first 2 teeth in this picture.

And now, we bestow the Princess Award on

Princess Ella
Princess Vivian
Princess Leah
Princess Emilia

ENT=Tubes

1 Mom, 2 kids, 3 coats, 2 hats, 4 gloves, 2 snacks, 1 Leapster with case, 1 bottle, 3 spits ups on Lindsey and Mom, 2 potty breaks, an hour wait at the ENT and now naptime=ugh
Props to all your mamas out there that do these appointments regularly with multiple kids.
We did survive it without any meltdowns and Lindsey remained asleep during the exam.
But let me tell you trying to put a coat, hat, and gloves on a 3 year old while holding a sleeping 1 year old is an art for sure. I can remember with Brooke how much easier things like this were once she was walking. When they aren't walking you can't just set one on the dirty floor of the waiting room to dig through the diaper bag to find the other a snack or set one on the dirty bathroom floor to help the other one go potty. It all has to be done one handed while holding the other child.
Anyhoo, back to the appointment. After the results of the BAER showed hearing loss in the right ear which was felt to be related to fluid we were off to see an ENT. I wanted to take advantage of the fact that she was getting her tear ducts probed and would be already be under anesthesia if tubes were in her future. He agreed that she does need tubes in both ears because of the fluid and would do them along with the tear ducts. Lindsey only has been treated for one ear infection and has never had any symptoms of ear problems other than the BAER results. Now the 2 doctors just have to get a time when their schedules meet up.

Lindsey's First Signs

I have been in a bit of blogging funk. Things have just been really busy with me trying to get back to pre Brooke weight (if that is possible), all the colds that continue to float through our house, therapy, looking at preschools for Brooke, Lindsey cutting her first 2 front teeth, and just the normal everyday. Here is the video I promised of Lindsey learning her first sign. "More Drink". I love how they get it in their own little way. She does it every time for us so I know she gets it.

Bottle that energy

If only I could bottle up the energy of a 3 year old I wouldn't need that Diet Mountain Dew fix.

I uusally have one of the cable's music channels on while I'm cleaning or making dinner. 90's hits is probably my latest favorite. Brooke, being the dancing queen that she is was showing off her dance moves Aunt Kelly taught her.

Standing

Lindsey is standing!
She is not pulling to stand but at least will stand without folding her legs under her or leaning against the table for support.

Operation: Overlap naps Day #3

I had decided this week that Lindsey may be ready to go down to one nap. She didn't always want her evening nap or it wouldn't last nearly as long. I was thrilled at the idea of one nap. My days now seem to revolve around naps. I only have till 11 to run errands, go to the gym, take Lindsey to PT and ST, etc. before my day of alternating naps starts.
This is usually how it goes
Lindsey naps 11-1:30
Brooke naps 2-4 (if she falls asleep right away)
Lindsey back down around 4 till 6
So basically someone is always napping at my house between the hours of 11-6. I pretty much get one up and get the other one goes down for a nap.
Tuesday and Wednesday worked out great. Lindsey napped 12:30-3:30 and Brooke napped her usual 2-4 giving me over an hour of quite time with no toys, and more time to play with both of them. Did I mention I had over an hour of quite time for me, fabulous!
Today, I returned upstairs from switching the laundry to find my little Lindsey napping right at her usual 11 o'clock nap time. She was snoring with her thumb in her mouth and didn't even sneak a peek as I carried her up to her crib.
So my day of alternating naps began

Pool in the snow

While most people have fun sledding pictures with the snow we had last week I have more pool pictures. I admit it, I haven't taken Brooke or Lindsey out in the snow this year. They are both finally feeling good and we didn't want to press our luck and take them out in the cold. Instead, we headed for the pool.
I am pretty sure that Lindsey would have picked the bathing suit over a bulky snowsuit anyway.

Yeah, that pretty much answers that question.

Brooke has become quite the swimmer. She hasn't quite figured out the arms but was going back and forth doing laps kicking her feet.

Why no pictures with me? Yes, usually it is because I am the one behind the camera. The particular day is a perfect example of my lack of memory. With each pregnancy I don't think I ever regained that "non pregnant brain" back. It has just turned to "I have kids brain" and some days it is just down right frustrating. I pack the girls up and get everything ready to workout and clothes to change in after the pool. We take the girls up to kids club for a quick workout before family swim. The moment we get up there it clicks, I don't have a bathing suit. Great, just great! Frustrating I tell you, it drives me crazy, I want my brain cells back.
Meanwhile, tonight Brooke decides she wants some old monkey toy that came in a Happy Meal forever ago. I tell her I have no clue where it is. Oh, but she knew right where to look. She marched upstairs and went right to her dollhouse where this little monkey sat. I then looked at her and asked for my brain cells back :)
Her reply, "Why Mommy?".

Which toy?

Lindsey has colorful musical toys spread throughout the house. Tim and I are even trying to figure out a plan to get both the girls toys organized in a way that is easy pull out and clean up. What is she fascinated with? A remote, yep you guessed it, just like every other kid remotes and cell phones always seem to be what they reach for. Forget giving them a toy remote or phone. We even gave Brooke one of our old cell phones. They know it's just not the same as the one they see Mommy and Daddy with. If it is a gadget constantly in our hands why wouldn't they think it is fascinating. So there you have it, surrounded in toys Lindsey reaches for the remote.
Silly girl! Guess she is trying to turn of that annoying Max & Ruby show her sister has become obsessed with.
